Frame grabbers maximize the data transfer rate between the camera and the processor with Direct Memory Access (DMA) in industrial image processing. Whether analog to digital, or translation between different interfaces, frame grabbers guarantee the transfer of all recorded image data to the PC memory in the fastest and most reliable manner possible, with low latency. In high-speed real-time applications, frame grabbers also synchronize image capture in multi-camera systems, and can trigger cameras with only a few microseconds delay. The high resolutions and frame rates of the latest CMOS sensors can yield data rates up to 25 Gbps. CoaXPress, for example, enables maximum bandwidth in applications with longer cable lengths.

Frame grabbers convert the video signals in real-time to Ethernet, USB 3.0 or GigE Vision and thus provide full control over the image capture of the camera. Parameters such as shutter type, exposure time, gain, data format or the input / output control via triggers can also be set for CoaXPress, GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, or Camera Link cameras through each camera’s GenICam interface.

Our MAVIS Imaging application engineers can help maximize your system’s performance by providing you with comprehensive advice on internal, external, analog, and digital frame grabbers for both line scan and area scan cameras.
